Brussels and Bruges are the two most visited cities in Belgium and each offers a totally different style. But if you have the opportunity, it is best to take some time to discover both and compare. Do you want to know how to get to Bruges from Brussels? Next we will tell you all the options to reach this small medieval city, which so many traveling hearts conquers. For us it is undoubtedly one of the best things to do in Belgium. By the way, if you haven't done it yet, look at everything you can see in Bruges.

And once in Bruges, you may be interested in this free tour to know the most important corners.

Now, let's see all the ways you have to get to Bruges from Brussels:

It is possibly the best way to get to Bruges from Brussels. There are frequent trains (several every hour), they are fast (the trip lasts one hour) and it is not too expensive (i / v leave for about € 28.20 i / v). Tip: if you travel on the weekend tickets cost 50% less! The good thing is that you save a little money, the bad thing is that, as you well understand, Bruges is a very visited goal and there are more people on weekends.

You can buy your train tickets here www.belgianrail.be

There is even better news for those under 26: traveling by train will be very cheap! With the so-called Go Pass 1, you will only have to pay € 6.60 per trip, whichever is within Belgium. Not bad, huh? More information.

It is the cheapest option because, with the Flixbus company, you can easily find offers for € 10 i / v. Although it is also the slowest option: it calculates an hour and a half / two hours to arrive. Come on, we recommend it only to backpackers who want to travel as cheaply as possible and if a good deal is found.

If you have a rental car there is not much difficulty: Bruges is less than 100 km from the Belgian capital, so in a quarter and a quarter you will get fully in the Middle Ages. Of course, finding free parking in Bruges can be somewhat complicated, especially if it is a weekend. And private parkings are cares.

If you still want to go by car, we leave you a couple of free parking in Bruges (early morning because they usually fill up quickly):

  • Parking Magdalenastraat, on Magdalenastraat 35, it has parking spaces 2 km from the historic center of Bruges and very close to the train stations.
  • Randparking Bevrijdingslaan Brugge, it has squares along Bevrijdingslaan street, about 2 km from the historic center of Bruges.

Unless you are doing a roadtrip through Belgium, we would discard the car option.

Do not panic: you will not have to pay a pasture, in fact it comes out super good price! There is a guided tour in Spanish, transfers between Brussels and Bruges and Bruges map costs € 29. Come on, practically like the train ticket during the week. If you want to meet Bruges by the hand of a local guide, do not hesitate: we think it is an excellent option. Here you have more information.

The only bad thing we see is that, being a guided tour, you will not have the freedom to do what you want at any time, so it depends essentially on the type of trips you prefer.
