They will get you out of trouble on more than one occasion since they are one of the richest and cheapest meals in all of France.

The chicken with wine is as simple as it is delicious: it is a chicken stew that "drowns" in large quantities of wine (usually red). It is usually accompanied with onion.

One of the most popular French dishes. It is a recipe from stewed vegetables, similar to ratatouille, although we better leave comparisons aside! It is usually flavored with spices and Provencal herbs, giving it a characteristic field flavor. It can be served as a starter or as a side dish for meat and fish. It is originally from the Provence region.

Sounds much more chic than "onion soup”And the truth is that it tastes much better than one would expect. This is one of the best dishes of French cuisine and, although formerly it was common among the humblest families, today it is one of the protagonists of each letter that is respected. Onions are cooked slowly in butter and oil and, once served in bowls, a slice of bread with cheese is added and gratin. You will suck your fingers on how rich it is!

One of the most loved dishes by French and foreigners: it is about stewed ox in red wine from Burgundy, garlic, onion, herbs and mushrooms. Since beef is quite hard, it is usually simmered for hours. It is a powerful and very rich dish.

A delight: the preparation is very long (up to 36h!) So it is not a properly low cost dish, but it is absolutely worth a try (even if) once in a lifetime. Duck confit is a dish made with duck thigh that room and scalps in its own fat. The result is divine!

Although it is a famous dish in France, it is not always easy to find. If you get over the moment of shock (it's about snails with parsley, garlic and baked butter) you will enjoy a real delicacy.
