The veneta kitchen It is traditional, simple and based on the products offered by the lagoon: fish, vegetables and meat. But, to these local products, an oriental influence is attached to the use of spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper ...) and the great variety of rice.

In your visit to the city there will be plenty of options to eat the most Italian there is: pasta and pizza. And although your body will ask you more, more and more be strong, I have to confess something: Italian cuisine is much more than this! Try to resist the call of pizza (I know it is requetebuena) and ask for typical dishes of local cuisine.

THE MOST TYPICAL

But if there is something typical of the Venezuelan cuisine and that every authentic “Venezuelan” does: the “route of the ombre e dei cicchetti

The "cicchetti”Are the veneta response to tops / skewers. To test them you just have to look for the ”bacari”, The typical Venezia bars, sit at the bar and choose one of the many“ cicchetti ”there are, here are some examples. Prices range from € 1 to € 3.

  • Toasts with vegetables or fried crab claws
  • "Soppressa" with "polenta" (sausage similar to bacon accompanied by a mass of cornmeal)
  • Octopus with polenta
  • Eggs with anchovies, salami (chorizo)
  • Arancini (fried rice and tomato meatballs)
  • Dry tomatoes
  • Fried squid
  • Artichokes
  • Meat or fish meatballs

To accompany them nothing better than the traditional “ombra”: That's how Venetians call it wine. Although young people now prefer another very typical drink from northern Italy: the Spritz Aperol. And is that the water in Venice is only good in the channels hehe.

Another typical drink is the Bellini, a cocktail made with champagne or prosecco and yellow peach pulp that is better to try only if you have money (you can easily ask for € 4-5 for a small glass) or buying a bottle in a supermarket!

Now yes ... GOOD APPETITE!

These are some of the typical dishes of VeniceDo you know any that we have not put? The gastronomy veneta is huge!
