Day 3: SALZBURG - WATTENS SWAROVSKI MUSEUMS - HALL IN TIROL- INNSBRUCK

Friday, June 25, 2010

Today we decided to get up a little later, at 7 and the alarm clock rang and at 8.30 we went down to breakfast at the lounge of the Best Western Hotel Stieglbräu.
We have a very tight day with the visit to Swarovski Museum in Wattens and Innsbruck.
Breakfast is quite complete, so we have gone to visit the Mirabell Gardens of Salzburg, one of the 10 essential places to visit in Salzburg.

The gardens are located right in front of the hotel, so after 9 in the morning we were already entering.
From these gardens begins the tour of Smiles and tears through Salzburg with a guide in Spanish, which passes through the locations where this famous musical film was filmed.

We thought that at this time we would be alone, but nothing could be further from our thoughts! There were already groups everywhere, so we had to settle for making the “joint” visit with them and with two couples who were taking pictures there.

Mirabell Gardens in Salzburg

We have been there 1 hour and a peak, touring every corner and stopping to take pictures at every step we took.
We have been impressed by the cleanliness of the gardens, although we have to say, that during all these days that we have been in Austria, the cleanliness of the cities has impressed us, especially yesterday when we arrived in Salzburg and began to know the city.
The visit of the gardens should not be missed, the truth is that it is a good place to relax and especially to impress the view.
After this morning visit, we had the "scare" of the day. We went to check out the hotel and when we got to the car we couldn't find the keys. Roger has returned to the hotel, to look in the room, while I emptied my bag for the third time in the parking lot.

When I have seen it appear with a poker face, I have already sensed that I had not found them. In a matter of seconds it has crossed my mind, how to call the car rental company in Austria, the thought that we had lost all day ...
Until he opened his suitcase and "zas": there they were. Last night he had stored the pants where he had them stored and they had fallen into the suitcase.
We have both sighed and after a few laughs we have put Wattens road from Salzburg, where we arrived in 2 hours, including rest stop and stop to put gasoline.
We have gone straight to Wattens Swarovski Museum, which was the reason for our visit to the town of Wattens.
As soon as we park, we have already seen the famous head, pouring water through the mouth, an image of Wattens.

Wattens Swarovski Museum

We have asked for the entrance to the store at the ticket booths (since we had read in several forums, that seeing the store, it is as if you were seeing the museum).

Wattens Swarovski Museum

We have been taking pictures of the gardens of the Wattens Swarovski Museum And as expected, our visit to the store has lasted 1 hour and a half.

Wattens Swarovski Museum

Luckily in the end we have come out with some of the gifts we wanted to take and thus we have amortized the visit a bit.
When we realized it was already 2:30 in the afternoon and we were without eating, so we went straight to Hall in Tirol, the next stop in our trip planning to Austria for free.
We arrive to Hall in Tirol in 10 minutes from Wattens and after parking, we have gone directly to find a place to eat.

We were struck, that although the town was full of tourists, the shops were closed and there were only a few open terraces.
We have been lucky to find one, where salads and baguettes were still served at this time and without thinking too much we have asked for and recharged energy to, after eating, start touring the town.
Hall in Tirol is a typical Tyrolean town, surrounded by mountains and with cobbled streets. A town where to relax and of course, where to admire the landscape it offers.

Hall in Tirol

About 4 in the afternoon we set off for Innsbruck, which will be our next stop, where we will be 2 days.
We have arrived at our hotel in Innsbruck, the Best Western Hotel Engl, in 10 minutes and today we have rested for a while before going out to visit the city.
At 6 we have decided that it was time to get going and we went to the old town.
From the hotel we just have to cross a bridge to get there, so in 5 minutes we were in the most famous street in the city of Innsbruck, Holfgasse street.
We have begun to take pictures, almost without admiring anything around us. And without realizing it, we have faced the famous Golden Roof of Innsbruck.

Innsbruck

Of course, I was surrounded by people and we have done the same as others. Stand right in front of us, to take the photos of rigor.
After this, we have begun to wander, aimlessly.
The streets of Innsbruck are full of people and we found that the idea we had that we would be cold is far from what happens these days. Today we have a temperature of 30 degrees, which stays there if we thought we were going to be cold.

Innsbruck

After stopping on a terrace next to the Tejadillo and just in front of Stadtturm, to have a drink, we have followed a circuit that marks the guide of Austria that we have, so as not to miss any of the essential visits.
On the tour we have seen the Haiblinghaus, impressive with its rococo decoration.

Innsbruck

We arrive at Innsbruck Cathedral, where we cannot enter, because it is already closed to the public, but we take the photos from outside.
From here we go directly to Hoftgarden, where we enjoy a green area in the city.
There we are having a good time, and then go directly to Hofburg, the imperial palace, which we see from the outside.
From here we will see the Arc de Triomphe and then return to the “central” area again, this time, losing ourselves in the adjacent streets, to see a little more of the center of this city.

Innsbruck

We see by chance a restaurant where they are serving a typical Tyrolean dish, which carries meat, potatoes and egg. We do not doubt it and although we see that it is quite expensive, we sat ready to try that dish that we already had in mind.
Well, it will be no! Roger has asked for it by heart and made a mistake in name. The face of fools that we have left when we have seen the waiter appear with 2 fish dishes has been to take a picture.
Seeing that it had been our mistake, we have chosen to eat and ask for the bill without further ado. Tomorrow we will look for somewhere to eat the dish we had in mind. Now we do not plan to stay with the desire.
It's 9 o'clock at night and after a day as complete as today, we head to the hotel in Innsbruck with our rental car in Austria, with the intention of resting, writing the diary and reviewing our planning tomorrow.
