History of Hotel José Nogueira
It was 1874 when Sara Braun arrived in these lands from Russia to marry José Nogueira in 1887, a businessman with a great fortune carved thanks to his shipping and livestock companies. After the death of Nogueira, in 1893, Sara Braun became her heiress, dedicating part of her fortune to designing and building a house that reflected great Parisian influences and a contrast to the houses that surrounded her at that time.
In 1955, the year of Sara Braun's death, the house was inherited by her nephews who, after selling part of their furniture, ended up selling the palace to the Union Club.
They had to spend several years, until 1982, the year in which the Sara Braun Palace was declared a national monument and became one of the most characteristic and well-known buildings in the city.
As of 1992, part of the building became part of the current José Nogueira Hotel, as we can see today.

What we did not like about the José Nogueira Hotel
- The absence of water heater in the rooms.
- The lack of attention at the information level by the reception staff that at no time offer us a map of the city or offer us information.
- Another thing that has caught our attention is the lack of flexibility in breakfast schedules or at least the contribution of a solution If as a guest you comment that you have an excursion at 6:30 in the morning. The only response we received from our question about whether there was a possibility to drink even a coffee was a "do not", without more.
